Default Air filter.

Has anyone found any alternatives for the Air Filter yet? They're listed as $80 CDN to simply buy one, and $60 CDN if you replace it at the time you've purchased one of the maintenance packages for the scheduled maintenance.

It's a little frustrating as the one of the regular escape is only $18 CDN and can be picked up at places other than a dealer.

Just hoping I'm missing something and someone has come out with an alternative.

jeff.

What air filter are you talking about? Cabin air filter? Engine air filter?

If it's the cabin air filter, you can buy it online --
I bought two filters (one for now, one as a spare) at Drivewire.com:
Bosch R2060-138313 ACC Cabin Filter

Cost: $14.56 USD per filter (you only need one and they last about 1 year after which they should be replaced.)

I think you can get a K&N engine air filter for about $50. Check online (try Googling K&N air filters). The K&N will perform better and is permanent. You just clean and recharge it every so often.

The only K&N filter I could find on their site was for the regular escape. Everything says that it excludes the hybrid. So it doesn't look like anything is available yet.

Is this the right air filter?

http://www.fordaccessories.com/produ...AirFilter.aspx

I haven't had the cover off to see if this is the one.... It looks different than the cabin airfilter which i HAVE seen so I THINK its the engine airfilter...

At 32.95 its better than the 80 or so.

haskellf,

I'm looking for the engine air filter, not the cabin air filter.

Tim, that does look like the correct filter. I believe someone had posted in the past saying that in the US the price from the dealer was around $50, so that seems close with shipping. Here I can get it as low as $60 if I get some service along with it. That site states that they do NOT ship to the north... for some reason. I thought I had seen a ford accessories site in Canada, so I'll continue looking.

Thanks!

Gal, actually, as in female. That's my Flickr photo gallery. I think you meant to link to the cabin air filter photos and not my whole assortment of photos.

Here's a direct link to the photos from my cabin air filter self-install about a month ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wildtex...abinairfilter/

Apologies for the photo quality, but my hands were filthy so the easiest camera to use was my low-res cameraphone and not my Canon EOS 1D Mark II (read: pro digital camera.)
