Add 12v jump-start module to 09+
Anyone know of any attempts to add the 05-08 factory jump start module to an 09+?
I'm aware of the 120v ac-dc LED driver that is often used to charge the high voltage battery. My plan is to install one of those and also install something that will charge it off the 12v battery in case it dies in an area without AC power.
If the factory module can be relatively plug and play then that'd be great. If not then the plan would be to wire in a 12v boost converter with a fused line & switch.

I don't know, but I would be surprised if it works as their battery computers are different part numbers.

A 350mA unit supplying 350VDC consumes 123W of power @ 100% efficiency. HLG-120H-C350A outputs 150W max at max current (.35A) and peak voltage (430V).
It should be AT LEAST 85% efficient at battery voltage, so it should never consume more than 154W (123W/.85).
The concern about the lack of AC is legit. Many FEH have the built in AC inverter outlet, but I don't remember the wattage. It's probably too low to be relied upon.
A $40 PSW inverter like:
Could easily be run of the 12V to power the LED power supply.
I get that it's not the solution you're looking for, but it's the solution I KNOW will work.

clever.. i hadn't considered an inverter. That seems like a simple enough solution, especially when paired with a standard jump pack.
As for the FEH AC inverter - I had always assumed it was sourced by the hybrid battery.. was i wrong and it's actually sourced by the 12v batt?

FWIW, the owner's manual indicates Fuse #1 is 30A and for the 110V inverter. That strongly implies it's 12V powered.
30A fuse is encouraging as that would allow for ~300W INPUT into the inverter. However, the owner's manual does indicate it's limited to 150W.
As I consider it more, you would likely need the ignition on to use the on-board inverter, which would potentially put a load on the HV battery, and grid charging is preferably done with the car completely off... even with the 12V disconnected - to ensure 100% of the HV current goes to the HV battery with nothing pulling it down. I would go with a separate inverter.
