Is it possible to change out the 6-disc in dash CD changer in an '08 FEH with the '09 Nav unit with the Microsoft Sync stuff?

I've been toying with that idea, but I'm not sure if it's possible or even worth the cost to do that.

Depending on how recent your 2008 is - you may have an update option to the Sync Radio available by Ford. That was suggested in another thread on this database. (see link below). Apparently, if you have the audio stering wheel controls - you may have the option. If you do, and it comes out - I think that would be the least expensive route to take. .....And hope this does happen - as I am waiting on it.

Here's something that I came across that you may find interesting. It's the Snyc module installation guide for a 2009 Mustang/Fusion/Milan. Might be something useful on an FEH.

I wonder, since Sync is available on the 2009 module for these cars (I beleive) if this is meant to update 2008 models.

Still hope there is an update kit made available for late release 2008 Escape/Mariner Hybrids.

 

One of the things I noticed in the document is that there is a Dash Mount Control (refered to as HMI) for the unit so this appears to be independent of the steering wheel audio control issue and might just be able to be added to FEH that don't have the steering wheel audio buttons as well.

I don't have the disposable income to test this theory but I'm hoping that putting it out there will help find someone who does.
