Is that not normal? Keep in mind I only have the bimmer to compare to but everytime I take my car there I sit down with my service advisor and we talk about why I brought the car in and then when I pick it up we talk again.

Is it different at ford dealers?

In my experience, absolutely different (and not even consistent at Mercedes dealers, though the bar is higher there). I had a Ford/Mercury dealer in Pueblo, CO, refuse to even rotate the tires on the car because it was a hybrid. I kid you not...
