13 and Woodward sounds like a great idea... that is the primo place for cool cars! Somebody propose a time... evening or weekend.

btw, the offroad event will be sometime over the weekends around the July 4th timeframe. It should be firmed up this week. It will be very near Mio. Pics and More info to be posted in the next couple of days. (2wd will have a blast also.. lots of easy 2 tracks thru the woods to enjoy). We made a video last weekend but I have to edit down a few shots to post here...

For July 4th I'll be gone from June 30th (Fri) to July 5th (Wed) visiting my family. Can we do this before or after that time?

I also hope you avoid the Independence Day weekend - other obligations you know.

Are there roads or two-tracks suitable for those of us without four wheel drive?

Woodward & 13-mile sounds good. Others have suggested Hines Park and/or Stony Brook. There is no reason why we can't do more than one.

OK, the proposed date is Saturday July 8th, in Mio Michigan. PM me if you want details (maps etc). Mio is only a 2.5 hour drive from the Detroit area.
The idea is a 9am to evening day of fun in the woods. About 2.5 miles of trails for both 2wd and 4wd fun without doing anything bad to your vehicles... but who says you have to stay on the trails??
Plan on campfire lunch... bring whatever you want for food. Campgrounds and Hotel available in Mio about 2 miles away. I will post some pictures of the area and hopefully a short mpeg.
Some of the hills are steep enough to challenge the limitations of the Hybrid... a good chance to learn to drive them effectively.
Note: This event is a private function on private property and is in no way associated with Ford Motor Company. Attendees are responsible for the safety of themselves and their vehicles. Some basic rules will be established (like which way to go so we don't have collisions at the top of hills).

July 8th in Mio sounds good. There a State camp ground/park in Mio near the river, do you know the name that park?

I'd definitely be interested in a more casual meeting with other hybrid owners. I think, as a group, we're pretty much cut from the same proverbial cloth. Would anyone be interested in something simple: such as getting together over in Royal Oak (someplace quasi central for Detroiters) to catch a bite, then maybe on to catch some live music or a movie (An Inconvenient Truth might be appropriate - the Landmark Main Art is showing it at the corner of 11 mile and Main*). It might be a good way to have a good time rubbing elbows with other local hybrid owners.

Just a thought, anyway....

A meeting in Royal Oak area sounds really good! How about a Friday after work or Saturday afternoon? Somebody propose a place/time and lets have some fun!

Sounds like a plan.

I'm not sure how available I'll be, I'm in the process of moving, so most of my free time is me moving stuff. Though, in a week or two, I'll be free any day but Friday. (I'm still teaching on Fridays.)

Unfortunately, Raven, it looks like I won't be able to make the 4WD FEH Challenge, July 8th is just a terrible weekend for me to try to get out there. Between my teaching schedule and my birthday party, I just won't be able to swing it.

If anyone is thinking about the Hybridfest in WI, I may be going to that one.

Pravus,
Why don't you propose a date when you can make it and we will work with that.... I would really like to meet you and I am sure others that have read your FAQ would like to meet you also.
