Shelby American Introduces Package for Mustang Mach-E
To help increase international EV sales, Shelby American introduces the Shelby package for Mustang Mach-E
Before you get too excited and hunting for a reservation link, the Shelby Package will only be available in Europe. More than an appearance package than anything else, the Shelby treatment will include lowering the ride height by an inch, a dramatic reduction in weight, tighter suspension, and saucier looks. Racing stripes will adorn the hood, Shelby badging will be aplenty for both the interior and exterior, and each of 100 total packages will have a custom CMS identification number.
According to the Vegas-based company, selling the limited package in Europe as opposed to their home country just makes sense. After all, Ford’s Mustang Mach-E sales are stronger, the charging networks are more stable, and total EV acceptance is catching on quicker.
“We elected to initially offer the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT only in Europe because sales of EV’s are growing much more rapidly there than in the USA,” said Aaron Shelby, grandson of the company founder. “…It just makes good business sense for [us].”
The hills are alive with the sound of an EV
Though, having it be a Shelby product, it has to sound like a Shelby. Keeping to the loud and proud tradition set by Carroll himself, the package will include a Borla Active Performance Sound System, which will emulate the sounds of a powerful internal combustion engine that’s designed to perfectly match the vehicle’s speed, mimic the sounds of gear changes, and more.
“One of the biggest complaints about EVs is the lack of sound, which is an important visceral component to motoring for enthusiasts,” said Vince LaViolette, Vice President of Operations. “That is why we integrated Borla’s Active Performance Sound System into the Mustang Mach-E. This ‘auditory connection’ really intensifies the sensation and excitement of EV driving. Our Shelby Mustang Mach-E is the first production vehicle featuring the new Borla system.”
The package starts at $27,516, and will be sold in a very limited quantity. It can be retrofitted to a privately owned vehicle, or can be purchased from a licensed Shelby American dealership.
