The Electric GranTurismo Folgore Caught Our Eye

The new GranTurismo also comes with powerful internal combustion engines. The all-electric, Folgore, however piqued our attention. Packing 800-volt architecture, the GranTurismo Folgore uses electric Formula E racing tech to deliver the most powerful powertrain in the new range.

Delivering a over 1,200 horsepower, maximum torque is 995 pound-feet. That courtesy of a trio of 402 HP permanent magnet electric motors. Two on the rear axle, plus one up front. The bi-motor rear axle features independent torque vectoring.

Powered by a 92.5 kWh nominal capacity battery pack with a usable 83 kWh, the Folgore can continuously transmit around 750 horsepower to all four wheels. Full power cannot be continuously delivered to the wheels. That is however likely for short periods.

2.6 Second 0-60 the Stuff of Drag Strips

The electric GranTurismo can discharge 100 percent of its available battery power through the rear axle only, making it rear-wheel drive on demand. All of which makes for 2.6-second claimed 0-60 mph sprint, 124 mph in 8.8 seconds and a 200 mph top speed. That’s stuff of drag strips!

An innovative centrally packed T-shaped battery pack allows the seats to mount low in the car to ensure a sporty 53.2-inch overall height. Maserati promises the car will cover 280 WLTP miles on a single battery charge. high-performance steel, aluminum and magnesium-rich, the lightweight 195.2 inch long Folgore has a best-in-class 4,982 pound curb weight.
