General Motors Teases Sierra Denali EV
GMC’s Sierra Denali EV is scheduled to make its global debut next year. The automaker has now released the first teaser of the electric pickup.
General Motors recently released the teaser of the all-electric Sierra Denali pickup. The automaker employed a similar approach when it teased the Hummer EV truck with images of its recognizable front end. This time, GMC released pictures of Sierra Denali’s aerodynamically-enhanced grille, which is flanked by the C-shaped LED headlamps.
The teaser image also shows that the hood gets a distinct design. The pick-up truck also gets a faux front skid plate, which draws inspiration from the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra. In addition to the teaser images, General Motors also released an 18-second video. Gauging from the short clip, the pick-up truck’s exterior LED lights might activate when one unlocks the truck using the key fob or when it starts up.
The automaker will only offer electric Sierra in the Denali trim. Other variants will also receive battery-only versions but at a later date. Sierra is the third addition to General Motors’ electric vehicle lineup and falls in line after GMC Hummer EV pickup and GMC Hummer EV SUV.
Sierra will also use GM’s BT1 electric truck platform. Furthermore, the electric truck will also get GM’s Ultium Drive motors and Ultium modular battery system.
There is also a strong possibility that Sierra Denali will receive more features in the coming years. GMC vice president, Duncan Aldred offered his thought on the future of Sierra Denali EV and the Denali sub-brand.
.“Sierra Denali holds tremendous equity for GMC and our customers,” said Aldred. He further added, “We now have an opportunity to evolve Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as afforded by transitioning to an all-electric propulsion while also elevating the luxurious design and comfort associated with Denali.”
GMC will produce the electric Sierra Denali pickup along with the Hummer EV SUV and pick-up, at General Motor’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. The Denali EV will probably make its global debut next year. We expect to receive more details about the truck and its performance specification at that time.
We will soon get to see Chevy Silverado E at CES 2022, which will start in a few weeks. Although Silverado will be available in top-of-the-line models with premium features, the lower models will also get electric variants, which sets it apart from the GMC Sierra Denali.
