You might get a crazy deal on an EV thanks to a tax loophole, and EV newcomer AEHRA has us reconsider what we know about vehicle interiors.

A few weeks ago, we covered the news that the EV tax credit program was getting a ground-up rethink. In that new law that stemmed from the Inflation Reduction Act, we saw that a number of EV’s were no longer eligible based on material sourcing, and certain MSRP and income limits were in place. Well, clarification of those items hasn’t been supplied by the IRS. And probably won’t be supplied till March, according to Car and Driver.

That time gap between now and March means some folks might be able to get a new EV for a song. It’s not open to all makes and models yet, but something like a Chevy Bolt would be a top contender. The 200,000 unit production cap is reset as of the 1st of the year. And it is well under the $55,000 MSRP cap. Bolt prices dropped by $6,000 for the new year so there’s a potential for $13,500 in savings. Provided you can take delivery by march, and your dealer isn’t adjusting the market value.

Interiors as we know them are old fashioned, thanks to AEHRA.

AEHRA think’s you’ll be spending an awful lot of time in your car. And for the most part, they are right. According to TheCarConnection, most Americans will spend in total, 432 hours in their cars each year. For the well off individuals among that populous, AEHRA aims to make those hours part of a luxurious experience.

Using what they call HMI (Human Machine Interface), AEHRA’s SUV and sedan both offer a dashboard that spans the entire width of the car. In regular driving, it sits low and displays necessities. When parked, the screen can extend upwards. Fillippo Perini, Chief Design Officer with AEHRA chimed in with the following scenario. “occupants can relax and enjoy a movie, perhaps when the car is charging or when a parent is waiting to pick up a child from school or a party. And for those who have work to do, the screen and the spacious interior afford the perfect solution for video conference calls.” Which really means AEHRA wants you to spend even more time in your car, and enjoy it to boot.
