Best Sellers

In the last year, demand for electric vehicles has undoubtedly dwindled. Whether due to a lack of attractive government incentives, or a collective changing of the minds in our society regarding the practicality and effectiveness of EVs, we're not seeing as many sales in this category as we did in the previous years. With that said, the top-selling electric vehicles of 2024 in the US through the first three quarters are still seeing impressive numbers.

5. Volkswagen ID.4: 16,375

Taking the number five spot on the list, the Volkswagen ID.4, has been a success for the VW Group so far this year. With over 16K units sold, the electric SUV is by far the best-selling EV that the manufacturer has to offer in the USA. The ID.4 has a starting MSRP of around $40K, which makes it one of the most affordable EV offerings on the market, which likely contributes to its popularity among EV buyers Stateside.

4. Cadillac Lyriq: 20,314 Units

The Cadillac Lyriq is a relatively new addition to the EV market here in the US. The luxury SUV has been in production for a couple of years now, but its sales have really surged in recent months. After all, it's the Cadillac of electric vehicles! And with over 20K units sold through the first nine months of 2024, the high-tech Lyriq has earned a spot among America's best-selling EVs.

3. Hyundai Ioniq 5: 30,318 Units

Hyundai Ioniq 5 has built a nice reputation for quality and efficiency over the last few years. It competes in a class that has no shortage of electric vehicles for buyers to choose from. But in a market where everything pretty much looks and feels the same, Hyundai's offerings have a way of standing out from the crowd. And no model is a better example of that than the retro-modern-styled Ioniq 5. And we'd argue that's more than likely what makes it a popular choice for American car shoppers.

2. Ford Mustang Mach E: 40,218 Units

Speaking of standing out in a crowd, the Ford Mustang Mach E certainly does that by the mere fact that it's an electric... SUV... MUSTANG! The prancing pony logo on the steering wheel of Ford's electric-powered crossover is as much of a selling factor as the shield on the SUVs that Porsche sells. It may be a crossover EV, but it's a Mustang! And the model's impressive performance backs up that sentiment, all of which helps to make the Mach E the second-best-selling EV in America this year.

1. Tesla Model 3: 102,000 Untis

Is the top spot even a surprise at this point? Not to us! That's right, the electric vehicle that people have spent their hard-earned money on most frequently (and by a large margin), is the trusty old Tesla Model 3. With minimal updates through its production run since it kicked off in 2017, Tesla's entry-level offering has seen quite a significant increase in price, now with a starting MSRP well over $40K. None of that is a deterrent for buyers, though, as the minor facelift has proven to be enough to garner enough interest from fans of Elon Musk to make the Model 3 the top-selling EV of 2024 through September, a trend that we'd bed will continue through the end of this year.
