Simplicity

With simplicity at the forefront of the Munro EV's design philosophy, the versatile machine is made to transport passengers across the toughest of terrain. As such, the target market for the Scottish startup is going to be industrial and commercial operations across the US and the globe. If you ask us, though, the appeal is there for this product to become popular among average consumers as well.

Expanding to the US

To expand its sales across the pond, the manufacturer has partnered up with Wyre, a company that specializes in EV leasing. Wyre will serve as the startup's exclusive North American distributor. “North America is a key growth market for Munro, and we’re pleased to be able to partner with Wyre to realize our ambitions ahead of our original timeline,” Munro CEO Russ Peterson told Autocar.

Exponential Growth

The first deliveries of the modular electric off-roader are slated for 2023. “We’re dedicating half of our 2023 production to left-hand-drive vehicles developed specifically for the US market, which Wyre will deliver to customers throughout the year,” Petersen added. The company is projecting exponential growth over the next decade. 50 units are planned for 2023, 500 are to be built in 2024, and 2,500 units the following year. The goal is for Munro to stabilize production at around 5,000 per year by 2030.

Battery Powered

Fed by an 80.1 kWh battery, the Munro EV's electric motor produces 376 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. A driving range of 180 miles is advertised, with mixed driving conditions. Weighing around 5,400 lbs, the brutish-looking utility vehicle reportedly can manage a 0-60 acceleration of fewer than five seconds. Though, that hardly matters in the Munro's real-life application.

Aimed For Industry

Aimed to fill a gap in the realms of industry and construction in the US, the Munro EV is expected to arrive with a price point of around $88,500. That roughly converts to £75,000, which is what the vehicle sells for in the UK. Still, we can't help but wonder if there's a world where the glamorous streets of Beverly Hills are filled with Munro EVs shoulder to shoulder with names like the Mercedes-AMG G63.
