Everrati's Electric Ford GT40 Replica
Everrati Automotive are creating electric-powered replicas of the iconic Ford GT40 with a projected 800 horsepower.
Retroactive Electrification
With an electrified future looming for the automotive industry, it's inevitable that the sports car brands we've come to know and love will be experiencing massive changes. Many automotive enthusiasts would argue that replacing a sports car's internal combustion engine with an electric unit takes away from the fun of the driving experience, myself included. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, however, we have folks like the engineers at Everrati Automotive.
Turning Classics Into EVs
The London, England-based electric vehicle manufacturer has been making a name for itself by creating EV swaps of iconic vehicles such as the 964 Porsche 911 and the Pagoda Mercedes 280 SL. And now, they've turned their attention to the most important Ford race car of the 20th century, the GT40.

Electric GT40
The Everrati GT40 replica has the unmistakable character of the mid-engine Ford endurance racer. But there's no V8 rumble coming out the back of this beauty. A strange proposition for fans of classic cars, for sure. But that's exactly what the British builder specializes in. Plus, in terms of performance, there's no denying that an electric powertrain is inherently superior.

Performance Numbers
Speaking of performance, the electric GT40 is advertised as being capable of producing 800 horsepower. The impressive output yields a 0 to 60 acceleration of under 4 seconds. In terms of driving range, the EV's reach is projected at around 125 miles. Not the best for your daily commute, or a trip to the race track, for that matter.

Does it Make Sense?
And that's exactly where the question of practicality comes into play. If we're going so far to remove the visceral feel of such legendary sports cars from them to a high extent, shouldn't we at least be getting extraordinary performance out of the whole deal? Don't get us wrong, electric vehicles are the way of the future in terms of transportation. But when we're talking about recreational use of four-wheeled machines, I, for one, strongly advocate for traditional power sources. What are your thoughts?
