A Tribute
Before we dive in, let us provide some assurance for all of us purists, that no actual Ford GT40 race car was harmed in the creation of this EV. Everrati has no plans of chopping into these classics. Rather, the electric system is confined within replica GT40 bodies. The amazing endurance racer was once a technological marvel of its time. The famous builder intends to keep the name and likeness alive for the foreseeable future.
Specs Revealed
On display at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, the Everrati Superformance GT40 EV was shown off with official specs for the first time. Powered by the company's proprietary battery and electric motors, the EV is capable of producing 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of instant torque. This means a 0-60 acceleration time of under 4 seconds, according to the company.
The Equipment
The source of the power is a 62.5kWh battery pack, which allows for combined AC and DC fast charging. The range is estimated at 160 miles, with two driving modes available for the electric GT40. The factory-assembled rolling chassis comes with Bilstein coil-over progressive shocks with H&R Springs to ensure the car's handling matches that of the original.
The Flagship
“We’re delighted to be introducing our flagship, award-winning GT40 model to crowds at the renowned Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace this week, alongside the world’s first electric Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet model," remarked Everrati founder and CEO, Justin Lunny. "Each is an embodiment of the OEM-level technology, expertise, and attention to detail found in each of our future-proofed icons. As we continue to expand both our global footprint and product portfolio, the GT40 is at the apex of our performance offering.”
Path Into the Future?
The company's vision to carry a taste of automotive history well into the 21st century is admirable. With electrification an inevitability, it would be interesting to see how wide of an audience builders like Everrati will capture in the coming years.
