Evasive Motorsports Will Compete in Pikes Peak with Model 3
Evasive Motorsports will be taking a 180-degree turn from a power plant standpoint with their entrant for the 2021 Pikes Peak Hillclimb race.
Pikes Peak 2021
Evasive Motorsports will be returning to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race with an entirely new approach, as well as a new title sponsor. Performance aftermarket parts supplier, Turn 14 Distribution is backing the new project. The racing team's decision to bring an EV to Pikes Peak for the first time aligns with Turn 14's growth-minded philosphy.
Turn 14 Distribution as the Title Sponsor
"Turn 14 Distribution's goal to be an industry leader is consistent with our involvement in this project," Turn 14's Director of Marketing, Daryl Sampson remarks. "We love the sound and emotion of internal combustion engines but recognize and support the increasing growth of the EV and hybrid market by the OE's. Evasive Motorsports sees this, too, and we are happy to partner with them on this effort."

Returning Champions
Evasive Motorsports will be returning as the reigning champions, having won the Unlimited Division with their modified Toyota 86. Last year's race car was powered by the iconic 2JZ-GTE Supra motor. The dramatic switch to an electric car has undoubtedly been a challenge for the team. But the folks at Evasive Motorsports are always up for a challenge.

Dai Yoshihara Behind the Wheel
One thing that won't have changed from last year will be the man behind the wheel. Having previously realized success in various racing categories, Dai Yoshihara will be looking to take home the victory for the second year in a row. The Turn 14-sponsored driver shared a video on YouTube of a shakedown with the Model 3 at Buttonwillow a few weeks back.

Preparing For the Race
The car seen in the video looks significantly more stock, at least visually than the renderings shared by Evasive Motorsports. If the renderings are an accurate representation of the Tesla's final look, it will be undergoing quite a bit of modification prior to the competition starts in June. The lowered, widened Model 3, with the swan-neck dual-plane rear wing, vented and flared fenders, front splitter, and rear diffusor would certainly look the part of a Hillclimb winner!
