Caviar Creates a Tesla Model S Plaid+ Fit For Goldfinger

Ridiculously Opulent

Most would agree that the Tesla Model S is one of the most attractive vehicles on sale today. Soon, the refreshed version of Tesla's original four-door offering will hit the streets, this time in Plaid and Plaid+ versions that promise to reset more than one record for road car performance. But for those that can't stand to drive something that isn't ridiculously opulent, Caviar has come up with Goldfinger's dream ride - the Model Excellence 24K.

All Gold Everything

Yes, in the spirit of our favorite Bond villain, Mr. T, and the 1980s in general, the Model Excellence 24K is covered in gold plated stuff and gloss black paint. Caviar calls its creation a "truly luxury item," one adorned with a host of decorative items fashioned from 999 gold using a Double Electroplated technique.

Going Overboard

That includes the front grille and a host of other tack-on grilles (which is useless, since this is an EV), side skirts, brake calipers, part of the side mirrors, wheels, door handles, fender trim, rear spoiler, and badges, along with various interior bits like the touchscreen surround and steering wheel.

Different, but Good?

Is it different? Yes. Is it horrifically tacky? Also yes. The Model Excellence 24K makes an attempt at turning the Model S into a proper ultra-luxury vehicle, but instead, makes it worse, in our humble opinion. But at least it'll be exclusive, as Caviar plans to make just 99 of them.

Full Catalog

Of course, the existence of this car shouldn't surprise us, as Caviar has developed its reputation by affixing gold elements to things like Apple iPhones, watches, headphones, and even Vape accessories. It also sells phone cases and sneakers, so you can totally deck yourself out while driving around town in this thing.

Healthy Premium

We're sure that at least a few people out there in the world will actually like this car, however, but they'll have to shell out a whopping $300,000 to buy one. That's quite a healthy premium over the Model S Plaid+'s base price of $149,990, which means that you'd have to be wealthy and have the poor taste to get one.

Future Sellout?

Regardless, that description probably fits at least 99 people out there in the world, so perhaps Caviar will sell out of its opulent Tesla sedan. But personally, we'd rather have two Plaid+ models instead, or perhaps one plus a Model X Plaid for when we need a bit more space.
