I am looking at purchasing either the Toyota Prius 2 or Honda Insight in November. I can't decide between the two. The Prius gets better gas mileage...the Insight is a little less expensive...etc. Everyone I talk to who has a Prius loves it but I haven't been able to talk to an Insight owner. Is there anyone here who has owned both? I like to keep me cars long term, preferably 8-10 years. Any thoughts?

 

I couldnt decide either and what finally pushed me towards paying a little more and getting my Prius was the cabin size, try sitting in the back seat. Im 5'8" and my head rubbed the ceiling when I sat in the Insight.
And as a bonus I get better gas mileage, the Prius seems way better insulated too, I heard way more road noise in the Insight

 

I agree, go with the Prius. The Insight is not in the same league! There is not 1,000,000 Prius out there for no reason! H

 

I was thinking about buying the Insight and in the end decided against for the Yaris Hybrid (Prius C). The big advantage of the Prius C is that you can drive in electric mode (slow and short distances but at least you can). Plus I think the Toyota technology has proven to be very advanced and reliable.
