We took our 2003 Pruis (110K miles) in to the dealer because the trouble light was on & it was hesitating a little. They said we needed a new battery ($4,000). A year ago we had repeated problems with the trouble light & hesitation after 6 visits they told us it there was a recal & fixed it for free. What gives?

 

You can get a refurbished 03 battery (Using the newer 04-10 battery cells) from: http://www.re-involt.com/
for about $1500. Installation is easily done by a competent mechanic.
