Trouble code 1423
Hi guys,
im new to this forum. I got my new camry 2009 about two weeks ago.
I bought it from grey market considering that toyota dealers in our country havent sold this kind of car. What they have at the moment is prius hybrid.
I was enticed by the fuel efficiency this car offer that's why i bought it.
From the time i got it from the dealer, i only drove it for about a week. After that i've noticed a light alarm pop-up on. I check with the manual, it refers to tire pressure warning light.
I read the manual and follow the necessary procedure, like setting the correct air pressure using pressure valve. What i havent done is the have it registered valve transmitter.
In short, the warning light did not went off.
I was not so bothered about it. Then, after a week, another warning light pop up. It's refers to engine trouble.
This time, i brought my tch to dealer. As they check with their intelligent tester, it says, the trouble refers to code p1423.
Now my dilemma, since this type of car is not yet sold in the market, our toyota dealer doesnt have a ready repair manual. Its almost two weeks now the car is w toyota, and they havent fixed the problem.
Thier problem is the have to wait the repair manual which will be coming from japan.
Can you help me with this problem?
What possible solution can you suggest for trouble code p1423
thank you

See the following thread on the p1423 trouble code - in brief, it usually means the gas cap was not on tight. Any air leaking into the gas tank will cause this code. After tightening the gas cap, this code should clear automatically after 2 or 3 trips.

Regarding the TPMS (tire pressure warning light), check the spare tire pressure as well. If any of the tires are low, the TPMS light will stay on. If you are convinced the air pressures are normal, reset the TPMS system to calibrate it for the existing tire pressures. The reset procedure is in the owners manual:
Page 179: Set parking brake, Power ON then press the Reset switch in the glovebox for a few seconds until your tire pressure icon on the main gauge display slowly flashes three times.
You can read more on TPMS here.

While it is important to check the spare tire's pressure, it is not monitored by the TCH's TPMS (at least up to and including '09, I'm not sure past then).

The TCH does have the capacity to have the spare monitored also but the space saver does not have a TPMS sensor. You can not have 8 sensors though to keep your snow tires included. You only have 5 slots in the system to monitor.
