Default Power button light in READY mode

I think my mind is playing tricks on me but I thought that when the car is in READY mod the green light on the power button stays on? Or maybe I have been around computers too long. Doe anyone know if the power light is suppose to remain on at all times when the car is READY/driving?

Thanks.

My recollection is that it only turns green when your foot is on the brake, and it is waiting to be pressed (to start the car). Once the car is running, the light goes out. It does glow red when the car is in accessory mode.

Do you sometimes experience a time when the foot is on the break, you push the button but the "ready light" does not turn on? ...and the car obviously does not go?

No. So far every time I hit the button it starts up.

One of my pet peeves about the car....

There is no easy way to tell if the car is off. NO POWER LIGHT.

Ready certainly means the car is ON (and ready to drive),
but the LACK of the "Ready" light does not mean it's off.

And the LED on the power button is useless.

Sometimes if I am not sure if the car is off, I have to start it up to get the READY light on, then shut it again.

HOW HARD IS IT to make the LED on power button into a power indicator??!??!?!

That's sort of what my mind was doing to me. I though the green light stayed on while the car was "on." I would actually suspect it to say on and maybe dim at night.

Yep, and it's a problem because sometimes I hit the power a bit too quick without it being in 'park' yet, so it doesn't shut off.

Combine this with sometimes opening the door then CORRECTLY shutting the car off, and the car will just keep beeping FOR NO REASON, so to be sure
you have to get back in the car, start it up, then shut it.

For all of the incredible Toyota technology, this aspect is very amateur.

When the READY light is "on" the POWER light is "off." The car is OFF when both the READY light and the POWER light are "off" (the clock display will then also be "off"). If you push the POWER button too briefly, it may not register. Hold it in for a quarter of a second.

IIRC, the car can be on in accessory mode, which will render the "Ready" light off _AND_ the power light off.
