Since my 07 camry hybrid just reached 200k miles I decided to run some tests to see if anything shows. I have no warning lights, but to my surprise I got c1241 code stored under ABS/breaks system. my 12v battery is original, but still shows 12.85v at rest, so I'm wondering if finally I need to get new 12v battery soon, or should I get ready to change ABS actuator? Traction battery seems to be fine with less than .2v difference between lowest and highest module, so at least that should be nothing to worry about. Come to think of it I washed engine bay yesterday and possibly water could have gotten inside connectors and cause some bad readings before drying. Should I reset the code or wait for it to reset itself, how long?

 

I cannot answer your question but did go through the battery buying experience recently and can offer this if you do need a new accessory battery - the Optima Yellowtop D35 is doing a nice job in my TCH. Very good fit as well.

 

Thanks for the info, I cleared the code and doesn't show up anymore, so I'll wait and see. The car probably never draws more than 10 amps and I left 12 volt, 7Ah alarm battery in the trunk just in case, as backup. I just got RAV4 Hybrid for my wife and that one uses smaller Prius battery (GS Yuasa S46B24r, 45Ah), it should also work since seems both hybrid systems (Rav4 and original camry hybrid) are very similar with same 17 modules NIMH traction battery and battery itself costs "only $160". Rav4 also have 12v battery inside the trunk and I believe that makes the battery lasts much longer, unless you're in very hot climate like Arizona.

 

It improves the life in AZ as well. Original batteries frequently last 8+ years.
