Get the Kentucky assembled TCH while you still can
Most Toyotas will not be made in Japan in '07
Toyota Motor Corp. plans to produce more cars overseas than in Japan for the first time ever in 2007, according to a Japanese newspaper report Wednesday.

Note: Overseas is from Japan's perspective and does NOT necessarily mean Kentucky. Kentucky is looking better and better every day. I'll take a Ky TCH over one assembled in Thailand, Mexico etc.

Did you notice that Toyota bought a share of Fuji Heavy Industries (owner of Subaru)? Toyota will be hiring 1000 additional workers and spending $230 million, helping Fuji to retool the Indiana Subaru plant to build Camrys.

Toyota operates out of a subaru plant here in Indiana right next to Purdue university.
The plant in Kentucky is amazing. I highly recommend you go there for a tour, they are open to the public.
this is one of the most productive car manufacturing facilities in the world.

err... Toyotas have been made all over the world. Not everything revolves around the US you know .
Thai Corollas have been sold in SE Asia (Singapore, Malaysia etc).
I believe the UK makes a few models themselves.
Of course Canada makes the Corolla, Matrix and RX

Toyota makes such demands in quality that I don't think they'll ever tolerate a plant anywhere on the planet that can't turn out a tight machine. Apparently there were some minor, minor problems in the early runs in Japan, and I suspect complaints on boards like this were noted and corrections and edicts were issued, and Kentucky benefitted from being able to tool up and tighten up on the glitches like console crickets, etc.
That's why I've bought only Toyota for 27 years.
