Do you have to disconnect the battery to change the rear brakes and the rotors?

Only if you plan on replacing the battery.... These are just like a normal car in most things mechanical. The only time the traction battery comes into play is when you are working on the high voltage systems and I wouldn't do that unless you have the training and equipment to do it safely.

 

David, I think, he spiketh of the 12V one. You know how repair manuals are. Say, How to replace cabin air filter. Step 1. Disconnect battery. They just tell you to disconnect battery for every slightest fart around the car. People get obsessive with that.

 

I thought he was talking about the high voltage traction battery due to working on the brakes and possibly thinking they were part of the regenerative charging system. There are very few things I disconnect the 12v battery for when working on a car. Airbag systems and wiring harnesses are the main times when I will disconnect the 12v battery.

 

Yeah, I know. but like I said - manuals and dealerships will tell you to disconnect battery right or wrong.
