Default Dash plastic is a dust magnet and scratches too easily

OK I think Acura and Chrysler were onto something when they tilted the plastic over the guages down and inward rather than down and outward. MY TLs and Chrysler never had a big dust issue on the clear plastic covering the guages, the TCH presents liek a shelf that seems to attract dust. I also notice the same on the plastic display for the radio and temp. I have minor scratches already, does anyone know of something that will help remove or rub them out?

I typically clean mine with microfiber cloth and the compressed air cannisters.

I wonder if those kits to remove scratches from CD's would help?

You can get a plastic polish. I think eastwood sells it.

My HAH is the same way. The CD player slot looks like it grows a beard on the lower and upper lip within days.

I plan on trying something like ENDUST on a cloth to see how it goes. I know I have some around here, just need to locate it.

Novus plastic polish #2 would probably do the trick.

I have 3 acrylic aquariums so I'm familiar with scratched plastic. But a scratched tank is better than a cracked tank that dumps its contents on your floor.

I noticed a scratch across my instrument panel the other day when the sun hits it just right. I have no clue how it got there, but I do use a soft cloth to wipe it.

Thanks for the tip on the NOVUS product. Wonder if this would polish out the scratches on the headlamp covers too? The instrument panel dust is somewhat annoying. I think it is most visible when the sun is low in the sky and to the drivers left. Seems that the dashboard doesn't wrap around enough to block sunlight from the side.

You might need Novus #3 for heavier scratches which might be the case on the headlights if they were scratched by flying debris.

There's clear plastic film that you can put on headlights to protect them, much like that used to protect paint on the hood and front bumper.
