Default Check VSC System

My 2009 TCH with 13k miles suddenly (without warning) displayed a "Check VSC System" message when driving home from work. The brake light and ABS light also when on.

I immediately drove to the dealership and dropped off the car. I will update the thread when I know more.

Anyone else see this error? How bad is it?

Could be as simple as a fuse, maybe the ABS pumpmotor fuse.

The dealership is ordering a new Break Actuator assembly. They think it will come in tomorrow.

The official problem was Code C1391 (abnormal leak). They replaced the brake actuator assembly and brake fluid.

No charge.

I wonder, is there ever a "normal" leak?

In engineering terms, the answer to that is "yes".

No hydraulic pressure sealing system can be perfect. It is presumed that the ABS pumpmotor pressure "charge" will leak down over time. Absent actual pressure "use" (ABS/VSC/TC/etc.) if the pumpmotor has to be restarted too often to restore pressure the ECU will "fault" the system.

With my '92 LS400 if the brake fluid pressure is "discovered" to be initially low for 10 fairly short period sequential brake applications the system will "throw" a code.

Exclamation Re: Check VSC System

I have 09' TCH with 9600 miles on it. It has similar issue that the "Check VSC System" message shown on the display while I was driving. Took the car to dealership and they found code C1391. Dealer just cleared DTC and road test drive by a technican and a foreman. They cannot duplicate the problem. I did a road test myself by braking hard to activate the ABS and it is working.

Any recommendation and idea?

Exclamation Re: Check VSC System

On my 2007 Camry Hybrid, as I was backing up, the brakes went soft to the floor, and then all of a sudden engaged. It braked so hard, it felt like a hit something. A few days later, the Brake Light, Traction Control and ABS lights turned on, and Check VSC system displayed. I took it to Toyota and they said it was Code-1391, Abnormal Leak in Accumulator. The cost was going to be $2694.00. I declined the repair, because I don't have money to repair.

I have found an open investigation on the link below.
