Default CD player

I got my blue TCH a little over a week ago, enjoying it a lot!

I have two simple (I hope) questions about the CD player:

How do I pause it?, and

How do I go forward or backward within a track? If I cannot do that, when I listen to book-on-CD and miss an important word, I have to re-listen 20+ minutes of text.

I hope I have missed something obvious, as it is hard to believe that such a fine audio system would lack such basic functions.

Thanks,

Spencer Gross

Spencer. Do you have the NAV or non-NAV version? On the non-NAV there are six buttons below the audio system. The fifth and sixth ones are used to back up or move forward within the track.

I do have the NAV version. I didn't know there was a difference!

The only way I know to pause it is to turn the AUDIO off by pressing the POWER button or pressing and holding the MODE button on the steering wheel. Doesn't take much time to start up again, so it's like a pause.

To fast-forward or reverse within a track (with the NAV version) press and hold the left (for reverse) or right (for forward) side of the SEEK-TRACK button that's on the left side of the NAV system just under the POWER-VOLUME button.

How about jumping to the next preset radio station? I know you can do it with the steering wheel controls...can you do it with any other buttons around the NAV display?

I don't know of any buttons that will do exactly what you want, but if you press and hold for about a second the SCAN button on the right side of the NAV display, it will go to the next preset station and start scanning the preset stations (every 5 seconds or so). You cancel it by briefly pressing the SCAN button again. It won't scan in reverse and it scans both FM1 and FM2 presets as one big group.

You can also access any preset station directly from audio screen, on Nav unit. There is an overide in menu to keep the audio screen from changing to something else as well. Manual says you can change radio stations with voice commands but I never tried it, so don't know if it's implemented.

I was hoping the seek/scan button would somehow work since I rarely drive with the "audio" screen displayed. I haven't tried the voice command either, but will research it some more.
