Default Bread crumbs on my NAV display

Don't let the topic fool you.

For the past few days I've been noticing on my NAV display that each road I travel on the display shows little dots. Almost like it's leaving bread crumbs so it can find its way back from where I came.

I've looked thru the manual but have not been able to find anything about this. Have any other TCH owners experienced this or can someone shed a light on this issue.

I've had my barcelona red TCH for 4 months now, almost 10K miles and my FE is btween 38 and 40 MPG.

God, I love this car.

I remember when this happened to me too. Very good description; I thought they were Pac Man dots .

If I recall correctly, you pressed on either the "Mark" or "Record" button and activated it. This happened to me a couple of months ago. Haven't used it since, but maybe I'll try it again now that you've reminded me of this feature.

I found the option to turn off the 'bread crumbs' on my NAV map.

I just hope that I don't get lost and can't find my way back.

LOL

That was funny.

Mmmm bread crumbs.

Actually I like the feature and turned it on right after reading this post.

Does anyone know how long the "bread crumbs" stay in the unit's memory (I assume that the data is resident in the unit, not on the map DVD)? I've had the car for only 700 miles and frankly have not noticed whether a route I've taken before still has crumbs on it the next time I take it.

Thanks in advance...

Are you sure you have the option enabled, wcmack? I think it is OFF by default.

I have never seen them on mine, but I haven't turned the feature on.

The Nav on my wife's Accord actually puts down breadcrumbs when it isn't on a known road (and they stick around for a while). As time goes by, it almost looks like a messy road once they have been put down enough times!

Yeah, in fact I was marveling tonight how on a divided highway, they appear on the correct side of the road (I had gone south on I-287 and was returning north a little later...crumbs on both sides!).

I like the feature for now, but I was just curious how long the system remembers the routes you take. As a side matter, I was also wondering what value there is to exploit in having many routes shown in crumbs...?
