Canadian Border Crossing Closed After Hybrid Engine Found in Vehicle
A major U.S./Canadian border crossing was closed for an hour yesterday after customs officials found what they are calling "a disturbingly small amount of gasoline" in a vehicle on its way to Seattle.
They won't elaborate on the octane of the gasoline but did indicate that two days ago the Department of Homeland Security had advised all border patrols to be on the lookout for any vehicles that appeared to be "consuming less fossil fuels" than normal.

Ah, there is probably no truth whatsoever to that story. The website's own disclaimer says:
That is to say: This is a satirical news website. Precious little of the information appearing on this site holds any truth whatsoever.

A coworker informed me of the same situation here on the Detroit-Windsor border.
According to her story, the Canadian border officials closed the border due to concerns about explosive hybrid batteries being smuggled into Canada disguised as part of the automotive powertrain.
*We are proud to create our own hazards here in Canada,* one border guard announced. *We do not need to import them.*
