From everything I've read it seems feasible, but it appears the Prius since '04 is the only target for Plug-In mods for now. Hopefully this young industry gets that accomplished and the price lowered soon.
I'm of the thinking the next 2 or 3 years might see huge advances in appropriate EV batteries so getting a plug-in now could be a little disappointing anyway - if that's any consolation.
You can always work with an engineer to start a Lexus Plug-In kit! That's the way the Prius mods all started.
