Howdy from Fredericksburg, Va
Back in March, after 10 years, my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am was getting to cost more to repair than it was worth, so I started looking for a replacement.
I was interested in the Prius, I guess mainly because it was "different" -- Shape, Hybrid, Looks. I took one out for a couple of test drives. After I told the salesman that I was looking for a car with more power, he told me about the Camry Hybrid. I had not heard of this, but it sounded interesting.
During this time, I found the PriusChat and CamryChat forums, and from those I found this forum. I started doing intensive invewstigation into the Prius and TCH from lurking on these sites. (And following references that were mentioned.)
Finally, on 13 July, I ordered a TCH (Desert Sand) with all the bells and whistles (Nav, Side Mouldings, Leather, Moonroof, Heated Seats). The car arrived on 07 August.
For the most part, I have been surprised with it's performance and economy. (38 mpg vs 22 mpg with Grand Am.)
About my Grand Am, I'm keeping it (for now) as a back-up. But the GA is upset that it doesn't get to stay in the carport anymore. The two cars will just have to learn how to get along together, and stop fighting.
