Default Insight II Mileage

Just finished my 1st tank. It was mostly thruway driving. I was surprized to get 53.4 MPG. I've had 2 HCH II's. I averaged 51.6 MPG with both for over a year of tank logs. Neither Civic did this well on 1st tank. It does help that I use hypermiling tips learned over the last 4 years. New car is a LX model. All three have a block heater - I live near Buffalo,NY.

I usually get 47-49 MPG in mixed city/highway driving. That's 6-8 MPG more than the EPA rating. Now, on long highway drives, I've gotten as high as 56.9 MPG on a 606 mile interstate journey.

I have ZERO gripes about how the Insight-II performs. I got the car for $17,588. There's no way I'd take an overpriced Prius over my Insight.

considering the aussie dollar is equal to the US dollar, we gotta pay $35,000 for the EX version coming out next month (Australian launch) we definitely get ripped off here!

Don- do you prefer the Insight to the HCH2. If you go on a trip which car are you going to take? H

That's pretty good for the thruway. I have trouble getting it over 50MPG at 65MPH. I do a lot better at 55MPH though, so I try to avoid the thruway.

Have you gotten any snow out there yet? It's been pretty warm, but it is Buffalo.

I only drove the Insight once last winter in a decent amount of snow, and with the oem tires at that, but it seemed go very well.

I try to use the '03 HCH as the workhorse/winter-beater though.
