I need new tires for my Insight and I don't know whether I should by the same tires or by some other brand. Has anybody used different tires?

 

The only tires I would consider other than the Bridgestones RE 92's are the Dunlops s31's used on the Fit and then only with the 165 mm size. Everything else has been a real mileage drag.

 

Never used anything other than the OEM tires. I couldn't see any reason to do it. First, you would be putting a tire that is the wrong size on to the car. Second, I couldn't find a cost justification. The Bridgestone oem is pretty reasonable at about $55 a tire.

 

I'd scope out Firestone dealerships that carry these rare tires.

If you change the tires, the odometer and mpg display will be inaccurate by more than a little bit.

 

I made the mistake of replacing OEM tires with Michelins and my mileage droped from 70 to 65 within a few months. Had tread separation with the Michelins and went back to the Potenzas and my mileage is steadily climbing. I purchased the Potenzas at Discount Tire.
