Just wondering if anybody else hears the same sounds that I do when drive'n.

I seem to hear 'pings or is it 'Ings' while in my HCH2 vehicle.
Are those sounds normal? I believe I hear them while applying the brakes.

Is it Normal to make sounds like that?

I hear 'pings' and 'dings', but only when I'm going offroading in mine. Which, by the way...I don't recommend. The whole lack of clearance thing.

 

Yes, it's normal.

 

If it's what I think it is it happens not long after starting any trip. I'm not sure what the noise is but, it's happened to me since the purchase of the car. It sounds like a whistle in short bursts a whole lot of times.

 

Yes I've heard similar noises. I'm pretty sure it's the hydraulic brake by wire system. I hear it when I remove my foot from the brake and there's that little lag before the brakes release and the car starts moving.

 

Wow, I've never heard anything like that in my car (crossing fingers). If it is a problem with the car, it's probably HCHII-specific. Good luck figuring it out!

 

I should not I have super human hearing as well. The brake system makes high frequency whines. They drown out easily with the stereo though.

 

These ping sounds you hear, do they occur after getting in your car, starting it and proceeding to drive it then slowing down or stopping?
I know my 2004 HCH makes two sounds similar to pings or clicks I think like what you are describing. From what I understand, the sounds I hear are the antilock brake system doing something for the first time since the car was started, something like a system check. After it makes theses two sounds, I will not hear them again until I turn it off the car completely and start it up again and start moving and slow down or stop again.

Do you think this describes the circumstances when you car makes the sounds you hear?

I believe you got that right! Stoping, using the brake Etc.
I hardly even notice it anymore!LOL
I guess its NORMAL and working the way it is supposed to!
