Default should i buy 114K mi '03 honda hybrid

I am looking at a '03 civic, hybrid with 114k miles. i want to pay cash for an economic car and i found a good deal. should i worry about the hybrid system for such a car? i had a 2000 civic and i know about the maintenance in general. i just don't know how much any major work on the hybrid system would be and if it is worth going for this. Thank you!

I just bought a 2003 civic hybrid cvt last year with 60K miles. I don't have any issues besides my check engine light's on sometimes. I brought once to the dealer and they charged 80$ to plug in the computer and tell me that I have a EGR valve problem. 250$ for replacing it. I didn't do it and the lights was off a month later. Last week it went on again.

I paid my car for 9000$. If you got a deal like 5000$ I think it's worth it. I think it's a lot of mileage. To tell you the truth, I'm very scared that the hybrid system breaks.

Hope that helps.

before buying it, you might want to take it to the dealer to get it checked out. They can take a look at the battery and tell you if any of the cells are low.

Good advice, Nark.
Just make SURE they know what you want them to check out - the IMA system battery health. There are still WAY too many clueless dealerships.

Just factor in an extra $2-3k into the price of the car. Keep that money in a savings account for when you need to replace the battery.

You shouldn't buy a 114K mile anything. But it's all a matter of price. How much does the car cost?
