My gas tank always seems to get to completely empty with the warning light on before it should--my dealer told me the gas tank is 12.4 gallons, the Honda web site says 12.3, but I've only put 10.7 gallons in the thing and that was after running 10 miles in stop and go with no gas bars at all and 40 miles after the light went on.

I thought the purpose of the gas warning light was to give you 30-40 miles worth of warning, not >100 miles.

Can anyone confirm that the tank is around 12.3 gallons, and does the light turn on for other people after they've used ~10 gallons? Thanks!

 

Yes it's 12.4 USGallons or 47 litres

I usually fill a while after the light come on and almost always put in only 37 to 39 litres.
I think the fuel guage / light are set up for the standard civic so in our cars we have way too much distance left when the light comes on

I'm going to ask my dealer about it when the first service comes up as it may be possible to adjsut the sensor... we'll see. Anybody know if that can be done?

 

I drove over 80 miles after light went on, because I had to. When I was filling up, first click was at 11.1 gallons, So, that means I could go for at least 50 more miles relaxed? hehehehe....

 

consider yourselves lucky- the HAH idiot light comes on at 13 gallons...out of 17.x capacity. It's on for so long that you almost have to reset the odometer when it comes on just to track how long its been!

 

Same here, but I get so nervous with all the bars off.

 

My rule of thumb is to gas up 75 miles after the light comes on.
