check engine light and ima is on

so i barrows my moms bf brothers car which is a hybrid civic... not sure the year... but yeah driving and both lights came on..can i just unplug the battery and will the lights go away??

Just to get the obvious out of the way: did you by any chance gas up and forget the gas cap?
