Happy Birthday to (my HAH)
coincidentally I hit 20,000 miles exactly today. The most pleasant 20K miles I've ever travelled- and that includes several transoceanic deployments!
42.5mpg on my 33 mile commute this morning, at steady (cruise control) 65mph all the way in the right lane.
41-42 has become the norm for my AM drive, 42-44 in the PM. Up from 36ish and 38ish last year. The only change over that time has been dropping from 68mph normal cruise to 65, keeping the tires at 36# instead of 32#, gentler acceleration and coasting to stops, and of course the car breaking in fully.
Nothing drastic at all, yet still a 15% increase in FE.

It's interesting that your mpg has peaked as you get to 20k miles. I found the same thing happened with my '03 HCH when I reached approx. 20k miles. That must be around where the cars are fully broken in. Only 6k miles to go on my HAH!

I think I'm seeing a little improvement (~3 mpg...guess that's not little, at about 8%) around 12K miles. Not aware of any change in technique, but the numbers are better!
And I share the feeling that it's the most pleasant 12K miles I've ever driven.
