Default Wiper problem.

I had a windshield wiper problem. I first noticed that the intermittent wipers would cycle 2-7 X after I turned them off. Then the intermittent wipers behaved quite erratically - never knew what I would get. Also the wipers would shut off in different posirions on the windshield. Sometimes 1/4 way up, sometimes 1/2 way up, all the way up (goal post position) etc. I tool in in to the dealer and they said I needed a fuse block. They ordered it, and I had it put in yesterday. It took 2 hours. I asked again and the service manager said that was the problem (fuse block). When I asked for a copy of the work order - he said they would mail it to be. The whole thing seemed a bit fishy to be. This is the same dealer who left the bolts off and a couple of the clips holding the plastic underlayment secure covered up when they did my oil change. Anyone else experienced this problem with the wipers in an HCH II?

Haven't had this particular problem, but it might be time to look at other dealerships.

Are you sure the wiper is screwed on correctly. I wonder if it's loose and not making contact with the motor portion, causing weird patterns.

Cool Re: Wiper problem.

I'm having the same problem again. I don't think it's loose as I've seen this with other cars - they seem to slip or just sit there while the other side moves. I would guess it's an electrical problem or sensor of some type. I called the dealer on Friday and he's looking at the car again this Monday and giving me a loaner car. They also messed up my gas mileage when it was in the shop- must have had it on idle a long time - or the MPG auto resets when the battery is disconnected. My MPG went from 54.0 to 7.3 on a 260 mile tank. Hope they fix it this time.

All fixed now - it was the wiper motor. I would have thought that would have been checked out the first time I had it in. BUT - no one's perfect and I'm happy it works well now.
