When your car warms up so you have normal boost/regen. You let your foot off the pedal so your iMPG meter pegs out at 100mpg and you have one green bar of regen. You then add just enough foot pressure to cancel out that regen, without going into white-bar boosting. If you haven't been pointed to it already, check out tarabell's article on the cleanmpg forums.

EV is when your ICE is turning over but not running with valves closed. Your FE is Max. and you can be assiting up to 4 issist bars max. If your assist bars go to 5 the ICE cuts in or starts. Play with this on a level or on a slight down grade. Come of the throttle and wait for max. fuel economy then come onto the throttle very carefull tring to keep no more than 3 0r 4 assist bares. You are now in EV mode. Also Your SOC should be above 5 bars and under 80 kil. per hr. when practicing. Takes some practice and a light foot. Have fun, H

Close... if you've got white bars, you're boosting, not gliding. And it's possible (but insanely difficult) to get 5 boost bars without the engine cutting in. I've managed it *once* in the three years I've had the car. One of the guys from Pittsburgh is able to do it a little more often on his trips up the 79 to Erie (not sure if he's still posting here or not, though).
