Question about the fuel filler neck

Question about the fuel filler neck
I have a 2006 HCH (California) that recently had body work done because of a semi-truck changing lanes into my rear driver's side quarter panel. All has been repaired, but when I went to the gas station I noticed that the little metal flap/door inside the top of the fuel filler neck was missing. You can only see this after opening the gas cap, and the gas pump nozzle pushes it down when filling up. The body shop says they never noticed it and even checked with a Honda Dealer who said "...that Honda has done away with the metal circular cap inside the filler neck for years."
Now I know this is a very minor thing but it's driving me crazy. I am positive I have seen it every single time I fill up. Can anyone here verify that this exists or get a quick picture of it? Now I just want to prove that I haven't gone wacko. This is in an '06 HCH in CA (don't know if it's different here).

Re: Question about the fuel filler neck
I don't know if the '06 California HCH II is different than other locations, but I am sure that I have seen it each time I fill up. It's just one of those little things that drive me crazy! What the heck is that thing for anyway?

Re: Question about the fuel filler neck
The little door inside the fuel filler pipe is on all cars and is designed as a fume seal. It is spring loaded, but sometimes if a funnel or something has been inserted into the fuel pipe neck, the flap can get stuck and get ripped off.
All of my cars have it in the fuel pipe. There is also a restrictor in the pipe to prevent you from putting diesel or leaded fuel into the car.

Re: Question about the fuel filler neck
Thanks Gary! Validation that I wasn't going crazy! Maybe it's a California thing because others (non-CA) don't seem to have it. Any chance that you could post a pic of it? I would love to show my body shop just so I could say "I told you so!"

Re: Question about the fuel filler neck
just read this, and have a question also about it, Do people particularly those with diesel, have a little spring back flap where you insert the fuel nozzle into the fuel filler neck to cover the tank entrance over before you put the proper twist in cap in.I'm sure there used to be one there, but after filling up this morning, admittedly really filling it up, it isn't there anymore. I wouldn't have thought a bit of fuel would stop it flipping into place. Is it a problem?thanks
