Default IMA and Battery Light

I am new to the forum, but I wanted to get some insight into this issue.

2009 Civic Hybrid, very few issues, maintained with the dealer. Several days ago, my IMA light came on, and has stayed on. Today, the missus takes the car out for a spin, and the engine light comes on also. Gradually, the accessories begin to die (radio, USB charger, driver side window won't roll up), until finally, it shuts off, and will not start. interestingly, I can roll up and down all of the windows except for the driver one. FWIW, the battery gauge was fully charged when I checked the dash, but the assist bar was at zero.

I had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and I await a verdict in the morning. What should I be expecting out of this mess?

Without knowing the codes, no idea.

However, the battery is covered under a 10 year/150k warranty even if you're not in a CA or similar state.

Where can I find categorical, definitive information on the IMA battery warranty? I am just inside that 150K threshold, so being armed with that knowledge is important.

Thanks,
David

EDIT: I found the documentation here.

Thanks. It turns out my car mileage is 153,000. I guess I have no choice at this point but to replace the IMA battery. Cost with labor and parts is about $3100. Does anyone know what the warranty is on the new battery that Honda installs typically?

IIRC, they are 3 years.

Given that you are so close to to the limit, it is absolutely worth a call to Honda America to see if they will give you any concession.

Personally, I would buy an aftermarket pack from Bumblebee batteries before I would consider a Honda pack, AND I would pursue grid charging before I spent money on a pack...
