How many more miles can I go?
So how many more miles do you think I can go before I run out of gas?
All three pics here were taken at the same time a moment ago.
The last fuel bar just went out at mile 739.8 on Trip A, see pic below.
The pic below is a pic of the dash at the moment that last bar went out. (I pulled over immediately)

The pic below is Trip B, which I zeroed back when the orange Fuel light came on 30 miles ago.

Over the last 30 tanks, my actual MPG has averaged 1.4 MPG better than the dash reading.
So during those last 30 miles I got 81.1 MPG. (79.7 + 1.4)
30 miles divided by 81.1 miles per gallon means I used .3699 gallons since the orange Fuel Light came on.
I have lost my owner’s manual so can someone with a 2006 HCH please look up in their manual how many gallons are left when the orange Fuel Light first comes on?
For this tank I have averaged 71.5 MPG. (70.1 + 1.4)

Kenny,
How I handle my gigg:
_____________________________________
_____________________________________
Once the warning light appears I add 1.4 mpg. to what the tank mpg.
Then I multiply by 12.25 to get a total of miles not to excceed.
_____________________________________
_____________________________________
Conservative numbers to work with.
90% of the time this usually leaves me with-in 1/2 gal in reserve.
I only fill to the first click ( a no-no on the charrcol filter-baffle thing to do otherwise. the mechanic & dealer tech too this time )
Thought I read somewhere you fill-up past the first click, if so adjust to your what you think your tank limit pass 12.33 gals. might be.
"Congrats" & "Cruise On".
John
p.s. To answer your question, around 10 gal. @ the warning light.

Well, then would you be so kind as to get it and look up how many gallons it says are left when orange FUEL LOW light comes on?
Thanks,
Kenny
Sure. My manual says 1.71 gallons left when the fuel low light comes on. What did you do with your manual?
Thanks a million!!!!!
I am disorganized.
It is probably in my garage or in my office under a pile of papers and junk.
Apparently, Honda edits the HCH manuals frequently.
My manual says that the orange 'fuel pump' indicator lights up when "there is about 0.9 US gal. of fuel remaining in the tank before the reading reaches E."
It goes on to say, "There is a small reserve of fuel remaining in the tank when the reading does reach E."
About that "small reserve," just today, I drove 45 miles after "E" when all the lights went out on the l.e.d. fuel guage (@ 50.3 mpg). Then I filled up with 11.5 gal. So, pump errors aside, I still had 0.8 gal. left in the tank, plus the 0.9 gal. I burned during the 45 mile drive 'after dark.'
So that reserve is more than 1.5 gallons after "E."
If you're getting 70 mpg, you can go another 100 miles after the lights go out.
