Default HCH II: CVT problem?

Hi all,

I am currently driving a european Honda Civic Hybrid model year 2008. I now have driven 15000 km's. I have a small concern about the cvt and i am looking for your comments to see if my concerns are valid.

My concern is that when the car is cold the cvt does not go smoothly from P to R, sometimes it feels a bit like trying to shift a manual gear without applying the clutch... When the engine is warm the cvt goes from P to R very smooth.

Do you have the same experience of should i bring my car to a dealership?

Thanks!

Daniel

Hold cold is cold? My '06 is never happy about waking up in the morning, especially below about -5C, but once it shakes off the snowflakes, it's just as good as any other car I've driven.

Welcome!
My older model 2004 does that, only when it's very cold. Once it's warmed up, it's fine.
I am going to try to remember to ask the dealership about it next time I go by there. Not sure if anyone with the newer models here has had the same symptom.

Thanks for tbe welcome, it's nice yo read all your experiences!

I noticed it this afternoon i bit more than usual, outside temperature according to the honda display was 2 degrees celcius. Thats not too cold right?

Can this behaviour damage the gearbox?

Thanks
Daniel

I have a HCH2 2006 model and live in a fairly cold area. -20 for a couple days over the winter. There is no problem shifting between high and reverse. The only noticable problem[ and this is norm] is a delay for the CVT to Engage . Shifting is easy. H

I have no problem shifting from park to reverse, but is does take a little bit to engage when it is cold. I was curious so I took it to the dealer and they said its normal.

I went to my dealer and they gave me the advise to change my "stop routine"
When i park, first change to N than use handbrake and then shift to P.

I must say that now it goes much smoother..

Although when i received my car, the salesperson said that problably i would never use the handbrake because i have P..

Greetings,
