Default First tank so far ...

I am averaging 52.7 mpg (usa) 63.3 mpg (imp) on my first tank. I have a little over 500 miles and will probably get another 100 miles easily. I love this car.

Wow, I was going to ask how you liked the car since you picked it up....looks like you answered the question.

But it isn't really a first tank, right? I'd like to see a couple tank refills logged before giving much regard to the computer readings.

Ahhhh Spinner, let him enjoy that new car glow for a few minutes at least. Sure the trip mpg is never going to exactly what the calculated it but I am pretty sure in the HCH-IIs they redid the programming to err more on the low side. That way owners are usually pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed when they actually fill up. My HCH-I is almost always the other way around, although over the long run the average difference on my calculated vs trip mpg has been less than .2 mpg higher than actual.

Mattiesettlement, congrats on your new car. If that tank calculates out anywhere near what you are seeing it is a great first tank. Especially with break-in oil, new tires, and new driver. Enjoy it!

MPG update:
I now have 584.3 miles on my first tank and my mpg is 53.9 (usa).
I have 3 blocks left on the fuel gauge so I think I might be able to hit 600 miles on this tank if everything goes OK.

Spinner, what do you mean by it isn't really a first tank?

I'm guessing that he means that you can never know how full the tank is when the dealer filled it up. Maybe he topped it off, and then there are always a few miles of driving in and out of the parking lot, showroom, etc.

Very possible, my last three pips usually drop pretty fast but thats a car by car thing. Either way for the first tank off the car lot, break in, new tires, ect... thats darn good.

The best way to enjoy a car is to drive it instead of checking in on a forum. Having said that, my intent is not to spoil Wade's fun. It's just that the onboard reading isn't a reliable and accurate measure. His logged mileage will probably be slightly better.
