Default Does your CVT hesitate when cold?

I have an 07 HCHII with close to 28K miles. Recently I have noticed what I consider to be a hesitation in the CVT. Most noticeable when I first start up in the morning and switch to Reverse. Car hesitates and the CVT seems to not engage. Then when putting into Drive for the first time--same thing. Once underway, seems fine with an occasional hesitation pulling away from a stop. Auto Stop seems fine when restarting and moving forward.

Is it the need for CVT service or something bigger? Anyone try a synthetic version of CVT oil?

For whatever reason, it just does that. Even my wife's Ridgeline acts this way, though less noticeably. My '89 Accord auto did the same thing. You can check the CVT fluid level per the instructions in the manual but that behavior is normal until the car warms up. Have you changed your CVT fluid yet? Mine was kind of jerky starting around 22K miles and the hesitation seemed to worsen until I changed the fluid x2 (not x3 like the book says). This did seem to help a bit.

Yes, this happens to me. I'm not worried.

I have a 2009 Honda civic with 35,000 miles and I have the same problem when it is really cold. I changed the fluid once as recommended and it is happening less now.

I have a 2006 Civic Hybrid with 173,000 miles. I do regular oil, coolant and transmission fluid changes. Mine does the same thing in reverse and drive like you are describing. I just tap the gas ever so lightly until it catches and then it drives normal.
