Deal on 2008 HCH w/ Nav?
I was at the dealership yesterday and was quoted $23,800 for a 2008 Megnetic Pearl HCH with Navigation. Do you all feel this is a good deal, or do I still have room for negotiation? Thanks!
I like to watch the local Honda dealer's inventory online, and at least locally the NAV equipped models are moving significantly quicker than no-NAV. There is also an overabundance of Galaxy Gray and Taffy White cars w/o Nav right now. Silver and Blue Opal are by far the big sellers locally.
I was offered sticker on my silver NAV with lots of dealer add-ons and $21500 on a White or Gray no-nav with lots of dealer add-ons. I was able to talk them down a little bit on the Silver w/Nav and throw in a discounted Honda Care warranty and other miscellaneous odds and ends.
This was late January.
Sounds like a good deal, though there's always room for negotiation.

FWIW, after soliciting quotes from dealers via e-mail and negotiating with the dealer most convenient for me, I picked up my 2008 Alabaster Silver HCH w/navi in Maryland back in February for $300 below invoice including destination plus tax ($0 in my case due to my trade-in, which might come back to bite me), title and tags. My dealer also threw in a set of Honda OEM all-weather mats (worth ~$60 - $80 online).
I received a couple of e-mail quotes from dealers further away that were around $600 - $900 below invoice, but I was lazy and didn't feel like driving that far and starting the "trade-in game" over again or running into other tactics they might have used to make up the difference.
Good luck!

$23,800 was the price before tax and license. Cars.com is saying that the invoice for 2008 HCH with Nav is $23,029. If that is accurate, what is the lowest I could realistically get?
well, with the price of gas going up and the demand for hybrids going up the ball isn't in your court. dealers are not stacked with hybrids and trying to get rid of them. in 2007 i was able to get a civic with nav at $500 below invoice. but, at this time you might still be able to do that if you are not so set on color. dealers like to deal with what they have on the lot. i do recommend the email method since you can pit dealer to dealer. plus, you already know the car. just want to get the best price. the only reason you need to step foot in a dealer is to sign paper work.
You should use edmunds.com, cars.com, etc. to send out quote requests to all of the dealers in your area and see what they come back with, you might be surprised. If you have a Costco membership, you can try their auto-buying service, but I don't have any personal experience with it going past receiving a quote from a local Toyota dealer when I was considering the Prius. I think that AAA has an auto-buying service as well.
BTW, per the "excessive rear negative camber TSB" threads on this board and others, if/when you do go to pick up a 2008 HCH, you should check its rear upper control arms to make sure they have a "C" on them (probably visible only on one or the other with the car on the ground). My 2008 HCH produced in 11/07 does not have "C" on either rear upper control arm, so I'm still trying to figure out if it has the new arms or not, it's supposed to since it's a 2008. Based on what I have read and seen in person, 2008 HCH's produced in 1/08 or later do have rear upper control arms with a "C" on them. It might save you a headache later on...

Just picked up my 2008 HCH w/Navi (silver on blue) yesterday.
It also came with all weather floor mats, wheel locks, mud gaurds, and trunk liner.
Paid $23.8 OTD... Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg VA.
I think I got a pretty good deal considering gas prices are going up and the demand is only going to increase...
Joe Petrone is your man if anyone else is interested.
