Default Blinking Drive Light

As I was driving to work today, I noticed something odd happening. The green LED on the dashboard was blinking. The car was in Drive and it was going. The only odd thing I noticed was that the IMA seemed to be acting funny (regen working odd).

Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what it was for? The car seemed to be fine after I left work tonight.

I would have it looked at. Should not do that! H

It probably should not do that, but if you cannot reproduce the error, the service department may just tell you it was a one time fluke...

Unless it happens again, I would just wait until you need to go to the dealer (Oil Change, etc), otherwise you will be wasting gas...

Thanks

I was thinking the same thing, about replicating the situation. I'll keep an eye on things to see if it happens again. I was hoping someone had some idea of why that would happen. The car seemed fine later in the day, so maybe it just needed shut off to reset something. I had around 1/4 tank of gas left too, so it shouldn't have had anything to do with that.

There was also no other "dummy" lights illuminating on the dash either. It was really odd to say the least. I'll keep you guys posted if it happens again, and if/what the dealer says. If my cell did video, I'd take a video clip of it for them!

Thanks guys.

Was it a steady blink or a flicker? If it was a flicker it could be just a loose connection.

It's documented in the owner's manual.

it was a steady blinking, for about the last 2 miles of my trip into work...then of course, I turned off the car and it stopped.

Did you have a interior light on by any chance? H

This happened to me last year - except it started blinking at the beginning of a 30 mile segment. Since it was a green light blinking (not red) and everything felt like it was operating normally, I figured the tranny wasn't ready to self destruct just yet.

I called the dealer - they didn't know anything about it - but they said "bring it on in"

They reloaded some PCM software.

From the service ticket:

"Cause: PCM Needed Update
125517 ECM?PCM - Reprogram. S/B 01-084 S/B#
03-002 S/B# 04-013 S/B# 05-038 S/B# 06-022
S/B# 06-045 S/B# 06-052 S/B#
38 WH 0.30

Concern/Symptom: 05038A
FC: 5LK00
Part#: 1K000-RCJ-A03"

After this "update", the FE dropped about 5 mpg or so, as the electric assist would come in a lot more than before.

I guess S/B# means Service Bulletin, maybe msantos can translate?

They weren't real helpful at explaining what was wrong, and I didn't have time to dig any farther.

BTW, the light only blinked for that once segment, it has never blinked again.
