CVT should be replaced around 20,000 miles or 30,000 kilometers. Much longer than that and it becomes sluggish.

Hi Larry;
I would be around 25,000 miles as I actually had 38,500 Kil. on th dial. The oil was still clean with only a slightly darker red. Some grey sludge on the drain magnet. CVT preformed the same as the day I took it home. I purchased the oil at the Honda dealer! Hal

No, the correct mileage interval is whenever the maintenance minder tells you to. 30k is just the max Honda recommends before you do it anyways.

Well I only manage 24,000 miles and I am a easy driver! I did not expect this to pop up that soon, oh well can't win all the time! I guess I can contribute the low millage to the type of conditions I drive in! Lot of mountain terrain? I do what the MM tells me! I really like that tool! Best thing to happen to the Auto industry in a long time? My opinion, Hal

Re: A123 service
Harold, I did our first CVT fluid change at 41129km, ahead of the Maintenance Minder. The MM asked for CVT change a bit later, at 46134 km. I explained to the Service Dept. that I'd just done it.
My reason for the first change was a pamphlet I picked up at the dealership, published by Honda Canada, giving guidelines for maintenance. Under the heading: "Specific Additional Required Maintenance", it says to replace CVT fluid every 48,000km or 24 months, FWIW.
I've since elected to change the CVT fluid yearly. This is purely my own preference. A typical drain and fill seems to require 3 US quarts, per the Owners Manual guideline. I would put in that amount and ignore the Owner's Manual guidance for hot check of the diptstick, which does not seem to work: it reads way too low. 3 US quarts should put it at the full mark on Cold Side of the dipstick.

Thanks Mendel. Looks as if we are close. I actually had 38500 and most of my trips are on mountain passes. If it shows up again,like yours did, I'll just reset because that stuff is costly! $18.00 plus levy and tax. $100 dollars for 4 qts. shishhhhh! I was over two yrs.though! Hal
