So when I bought my 06 it was missing the screw in antenna and had bad reception.. I thought it was the missing antenna and figured it would be an easy replacement
Looking around I figured out that that antenna is only for AM radio, so now I'm trying to diagnose why I'm not getting any reception
And ideas?

I disagree with your conclusion that the antenna is only for AM.
I went out to the car and unscrewed the antenna. Using the scan function, it picked out a total of nine stations between 91.5 and 107.1. Most notably it picked out a station at 101.5 with nothing until 107.1.
After replacing the antenna, it found 11 stations BETWEEN 101.5 and 107.1 not including them.
Perhaps you need an antenna?
