I came across this article which is both fascinating and troubling. I don't know if there software has been fixed as of yet. This seems to apply to all of the Toyota accelerate-by-wire systems.

I liked the computerized throttle control of my 2003 lexus IS300 before where you can feel the engine slow down together with transmission when going downhill. if you are driving fast, it will downshift for you suddenly press the brakes or it will not downshift if you are just cruising downhill. Very nice if it works but needs more improvement or else unexpected acceleration occurs.
