Default Are the GM two mode hybrid designed for longevity

We already know that there are 300k mile two mode hybrid trucks still running and the 300v battery is designed to last through it. The cost of the 300v battery as well as its pieces are not as expensive as other hybrid counterparts. the design is also made for interchangeability(?). The engine of the two mode hybrid is a pure ICE, 6.0L V8. if the electric/CVT mode transmission fails is it that easy to replace it with a regular 6 speed? if so, then it is really designed to last. inputs?

Don't know if it is deigned to last - but it looks like this same exact design will continue to be used in vehicles into at least 2015, so there certainly should be replacement parts for quite a while.

Help me understand the question / presumption you are asking / making.....

Are you suggesting that because the 6 speed transmission and the 2MH eCVT fit in the same package space, that the eCVT was designed to eventually be replaced by the 6-spd?

If that is your question / presumption, would the same question / presumption not be appropriate and applicable to the FEH, FFH, TCH, RX400h, and basically any HEV that has a non-hybrid as a base vehicle?

FWIW - a significant reason for the commonality where there is commonality is that since 95% of the pickups and SUVs are built with the 6 speed, the eCVT was engineered to fit in the existing vehicle with minimal tearup. This allows the hybrid vehicle and the higher volume non-hybrid vehicle to be built in the same factory, even though the 6 spd and the eCVT are not built in the same factory.

To sum it up, the similarities in basic design have zip to due with durability and a lot more to do with common manufacturing and making the engineering exercize as consistent as possible.
